Community Health Access to Addiction and Mental Healthcare Project (CHAMP) | New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH)

An ombudsman program, to help people overcome barriers to mental health and substance use disorder care. With support from the Office of Mental Health and the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, CHAMP acts as a comprehensive resource for consumers, providers, and healthcare advocates. CHAMP provides education on individuals’ insurance rights and helps address some of the most common barriers to substance use disorder and mental health care, including insurance denials of mental health and substance use disorder treatment and improper prior authorizations.

Offers various mental health related support groups to help individuals connect with others that are in a similar situation and are willing to offer mutual support. Ongoing groups include those related to individuals living with behavioral health issues.
